چکیده
Present study was carried out at MS poultry farm Baffa, Mansehra during 2006. The main objective of this study was to investigate the effect of different levels of probiotics named as Organic Green Culture on the immune response of broiler chicks, using Newcastle Disease Haemagglutination Inhibation (HI) antibody titer as indicator. For this purpose, 448 Hubbard day-old broiler chicks were randomly divided into four groups viz. A, B, C and D. Each group comprised 4 sub groups of 28 chicks each. Four experimental rations, I (control), II, III and IV containing probiotic at 0, 1, 2 and 4 g/kg ration were randomly allotted to these groups. The experiment lasted for 42 days. The mean Hemagglutinin Inhibition (HI) antibody titer values were 2.37, 2.25, 2.25 and 2.12, for groups A, B, C and D, respectively at day 1. A non significant (P>0.05) difference was observed among all the groups. At day 10 the mean HI antibody titer was 3.18, 3.25, 3.93 and 3.56 for groups A, B, C and D, respectively. Groups C and D showed significantly (P<0.001) high HI antibody titer values than groups A and B. For day 20 the mean HI antibody titer values were 5.25, 5.43, 8.00 and 7.62 for groups A, B, C and D, respectively. There was significant (P<0.001) difference among groups A, B, C and D. Groups C and D was significantly (P<0.001) higher in HI values than groups A and B. On day 35 the mean HI antibody titer was 7.31, 7.62, 9.81 and 10.00 for groups A, B, C and D, respectively. The groups C and D presented significantly (P<0.001) higher HI antibody titer values than groups C and D. It was concluded that Probiotics addition @ 2 g/kg rations successfully improved the immune status of broiler chicks

The Use of Enterococci as Probiotics in Poultry
Enterococci are members of the lactic acid bacteria family and are responsible for many food spoilage and fermentations. Some strains of this microorganism are used as probiotics in humans and animals to improve host immunity. However, some Enterococci are important pathogens which cause severe infections. Some strains of Enterococci are resistant to common antibiotic...

Background: With the removal of antibiotic as growth promoters from poultry diets, it is of interest to investigate potential alternatives to maintain good growth performance and good intestinal microbial populations in these birds. Numerous additives such as Probiotics, prebiotics, organic acids, enzymes and herbal extracts used extensively in poultry feed. Objective: The study was conducted...

A probiotic is a live microbial feed supplement, which beneficially affects the host animal by improving its intestinal balance. It has been used as a substitute of antibiotics that is being used in considerable amounts as growth promoters in broilers production and is, associated with incalculable risks for human health resulting from the use of particular feed additives. An experiment was conducted to investigate the comparative efficacy of two probiotics of different origins (yeast and bacterial based) on the growth performance, immune response, carcass characteristics and nutrient digestibility of broilers. One hundred and twenty day old chicks were purchased from local hatchery and were randomly divided into 4 groups and each group had 3 replicates of 10 chi...

Probiotic effects on growth performance, carcass traits, blood parameters, cecal microbiota, and immune response of broilers were studied. Two hundred one-day-old male chickens were allocated to one of five treatments (four replicates of 10 birds per treatment): control, and the same control diet supplemented with 0.005%, 0.01%, 0.015% and 0.02% probiotics. Probiotics in feed at 0.01% or higher...
